In May 2018, I realized that I wanted to experiment with social media in a way that wouldn't disrupt my professional work, but still enable me to keep up with trends. I started an Instagram micro blog that I named Black Girls Eat DC. In 2021, the brand name was changed to Black Girls Explore DC. The growth has been 100% organic. I work with local restaurants, national brands and tourism boards. I appear on panels and have been featured in Thrillist, NBC News 4, and Huffington Post. I have also written features for Lonely Planet, Business Insider, the 51st, and DCist. In 2023, I did a national advertising campaign with McDonald's as they launched two new sauces; I was featured in 60 and 30-second ads with other creators and a solo 15-second ad.
